Letter of Support (LOS) Requests to OGVG
(updated on May 22, 2008)
The Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers (OGVG) may grant Letters of Support (LOS) to any group seeking non-financial support for a research project. All LOS request are processed using the OGVG LOS Policy and Procedures for Research Projects.
In summary, the LOS policy and procedures state that:
- Requests be reviewed by the OGVG Research Committee; information on the applicant, project goals, expected outcome, and relevancy to the industry, and innovative nature of the project (ie. is it a new idea, are there similar technologies available) should be provided.
- Projects meet the OGVG vision, mission, and mandate, as well as general research priorities such as energy, environment, pest management, and production.
- The expected outcome of the project provide direct or indirect benefits to the production of greenhouse peppers, cucumbers, and/or tomatoes in Ontario.
- The policy does not apply to LOS granted for emergency use pesticide registrations.
Applicants should allow a minimum of 3 weeks (15 business days) for their LOS request to be processed.
LOS requests should be directed to Cheryl Trueman, OGVG Research Coordinator (trueman@ontariogreenhouse.com).
