The "Crowd Pleaser" Sandwich

(updated on Aug 06, 2008)

There are as many variations to this sandwich as there are ingredients – infinite!!!

1     Round loaf of bread, uncut
¼    Cup mayonnaise
1     Tbsp mustard
1     Lb of deli turkey meat, sliced (or use those leftovers!)
1     Onion, sliced thinly
½    Cup fresh sage leaves
2     Ontario greenhouse tomatoes, sliced
1     Ontario greenhouse pepper, cut into strips
½    Ontario greenhouse cucumber, cut in thin rounds
1     Cup shredded cheese

Cut a thin slice from the top of the loaf. Remove bread from center of loaf, leaving a 1” shell.  Mix together the mustard and mayo and spread all over the inside of the loaf, including the top.

Layer the rest of the ingredients inside the bread shell, starting with the deli meat. Place the “lid” back on the bread loaf and then wrap the entire sandwich in foil.

You can either weight this down and let stand in the refrigerator for several hours before cutting in wedges and serving,
OR
You can bake at 350 F for 40 minutes, let cool for 5 minutes, and then cut in wedges and serve.

The sky is the limit on this meal!
